Vacuuming - If you vacuum your rug every other week with good suction it will prevent dirt and grit falling down into the pile where it can damage the fibre and increase the wear and tear, look and feel. If your rug has a fringe avoid vacuuming the fringe as this can also cause damage and even unravel the threads.

Spills - If a spillage occurs whether it be tea, coffee or wine, then just grab a clean white cloth or paper towel and dab the spilt liquid . Do not rub as this can cause damage to the pile and also drive the spillage deeper into the rug. Use carpet cleaner on stubborn stains and using a clean cloth dab the affected area until all excess liquid has been removed. NEVER use a spot cleaner on a wool rug as this will set the stain making it harder to remove.
